Motivational Quotes 1 – If Opportunity Doesn’t Knock

if opportunity doesnt knock build a door

I chose this as my very first motivational post because it has a personal significance to me – passion. I think one unfortunate fact about reality is that many people have to deal with reality. Reality and passion usually don’t get along very well. For example, a person is passionate about traveling, but traveling costs money, or a person is passionate about painting, but painting costs money and time. This brings us to an interestingly intrepid quote by Milton Berle – “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.”

Build a door or smash through it

What this quote means is that if you want something and reality is not giving you the break that you need, it’s time for you to put things into your own hand. Use your own skills, creativity and will to carve the path you want in life.

This quote is very significant to me because this website represents me using all my skills, creativity and will so that I could make a living doing what I am passionate about. People who try to carve their own way in life are often looked down upon. Parents, relative and friends often times expect you to do things everyone else is doing, and sometimes they would be a little condescending when they see you taking the untrodden path. They are not being mean, that’s simply how the human psychology is built, so no need hate the “haters,” just ignore them and convince them by succeeding.

I’m not saying you should blindly chase your dreams. If you are trying to build a door, you need to have the right tools. It took me around a year of brainstorming and planning to have the courage and skill to create this website. I researched the legalities, the strategies, the workflow, costs and even consulted some people who have experience in this field. I’m taking a risk, but it’s a calculated risk, and I see this as me building my own door.

You are in charge of your future

One very important thing I’ve learned in life is that you need to be bold and aggressive to get what you want. I’m not saying you should start yanking things out of people or robbing banks. I’m saying most people are afraid of doing things out of their comfort zone in order to achieve what they want. Simply talking to people or publishing your own content or just simply putting yourself out there to be criticized can be very intimidating and people often times make excuses to delay or not to do them.

The truth is who cares. People’s opinions are simply opinions. Having been given the gift of life, its a waste not to enjoy it to the fullest. So go out there, build a door and start creating the future that you want.

Artistic Inspiration

For this quote, I wanted to draw something that was not entirely puppies, roses and pixie dust comes out of your anus when you fart. I wanted it to be a bit more of a realistic approach to positivity, so I drew a wall that’s been busted open by a girl weilding a sledgehammer (though it looks more like a mallet). She’s naked because art is supposed to be provocative… and it was easier than drawing clothes.
