“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”

WALT DISNEY

It takes a lot of courage to go after your dreams. Just imagine going up to your parents and saying “I want to be a pop superstar” or saying, “mom I want to be an astronaut” and even better yet an astronaut pop super star like this guy. They would probably laugh at you and down right discourage you. When Abraham Lincoln wanted a slavery free America, half the country did not support him. Going for your dreams, you will be faced against intimidating odds, but if you never try, you will spend the rest of your life wondering what could have been.

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”

ANATOLE FRANCE

If you want to achieve your dream, you have to believe it. Like seriously believe it, not just kinda believe it. If you pursue a dream that you do not strongly believe in you are setting yourself up for failure. You need to be your own biggest fan. Celebrate your own accomplishments, cheer yourself up during failures and basically be your own cheerleader like this kid – just go easy on the hip thrusts.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

MARK TWAIN

We are often too afraid to step out of our comfort-zone – for good reason of course. Way back then if you do anything out of the norm, the king will either say “off with his head,” or throw you into the dungeon. But that was back then when people were not allowed to chase their own dreams and aspirations. Today is the best day to pursue your dream because you live during the golden age of freedom. Where people are free to chase what your heart longingly beats for. Travel, meet people, fall in love, explore, find your passion and grow to your fullest potential because life is short.

“Fences are made for those who cannot fly.”

ELBERT HUBBARD

Many people are okay with being mediocre and living a mediocre life. There is no shame in living a simple life, however, some feel the need to spread their wings and see everything there is out there. Sometimes people discourage you to never go outside that fence, little do they know that fence is simple a small dot on the ground because you see things from a whole different level. Never let fear of venturing out of the norm stop you from achieving great things.

“Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today.”

JAMES DEAN

There are some quotes out there you should take metaphorically. This is one of them. Don’t go living everyday thinking you have cancer or something because then you will probably suffer from premature death due to heart problems or just burst a vein in your head. What this means is have the curiosity of a child who sees the world full of endless possibilities and enjoyment. Living as if you’ll die today means don’t take things for granted. Do not go through life just sort of doing things. You will die bored. Really look and really experience life and give it your all.

“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting……Before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams master the lessons we have learned as we have moved toward that dream. That’s the point at which most people give up…. [At this point] Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity”

PAOLO COELHO

It is the journey and not the goal. Let your dreams be your compass but embrace everything that you learn in your search. It may change you, you may suffer great pain, and you may become a different person in the end, but it helps you get to know yourself and the true meaning of life.

“If you take responsibility for yourself you will develop a hunger to accomplish your dreams.”

People who don’t take responsibility for their actions are really annoying and quite boring really. Imagine this situation. You are late for class and it was your fault because you did not plan accordingly. You arrive in school and professor asks why you are late. What do you do? You lie right to his/her face because you are too afraid to face the consequences of your actions. “Oh my I had a flat tire because superman dropped out of the sky and did all he can to delay me from class.”

Take responsibility for your faults. Say “Yes I am late and I apologize, I will make sure this does not happen again.” Cowardice ripples throughout other aspects of you life. Just as how you are unable to take responsibility for your own faults, you will not take responsibility for your own failures. You would be too afraid to chase your dreams because you are too afraid to fail. What would ensue would then be a life filled with regrets and excuses.

Stop hiding from your own ego. Take the wheel and steer your own life the way you want to instead of letting your fears leading the way. People who are brave enough to accept their mistakes are brave enough to accept failure and learn from them. These people are then freed from excuses and lies allowing them to chase their dreams with all of their might and with all of their heart. Have no ragrets. Ya know’m sayin?
